History
The Intimate Opera Company is in its eleventh season of providing a variety of operatic programs, ranging from opera highlight galas to fully staged productions of full-length operas in English. We have performed at numerous venues throughout the Southland, including the Simi Valley Cultural Arts Center, the Nixon Library, Jordan Hall in Long Beach, Leisure World, the Pasadena Library, Borders Books, and the Baldwin Park Performing Arts Center. We have presented fully staged productions of Hansel and Gretel, Cosi fan Tutte, La Boheme, Madama Butterfly, Cavalleria Rusticana/Pagliacci, die Fledermaus, and what has become a holiday tradition, Menotti's beloved Amahl and the Night Visitors. We presented the world premiere of The Fireman's Wife, by noted film composer Conrad Pope, in honor of our September 11 heroes. We have received grants from the Capital Group Companies Charitable Foundation, Wal-Mart, the California Council for the Humanities, and have just been awarded our first grant from the Los Angeles County Arts Commission.
